Chinese Language Aid is a program for assisting people learning the (mandarin) chinese language. It targets Java enabled mobile phones with at least 1 Mb of memory (although it might work on lower-end devices) and a screen resolution of at least 200 (wide) x 200 (high). The phone does not need to have native chinese support, as the software renders its own characters.
Characters are rendered always using their simplified variants.
The entries in the dictionary have been chosen carefully to include the full HSK vocabularies (levels 1 to 4), as well as the most frequently used chinese words. Translations have been used from the ADSOTrans and CEDICT projects. Some corrections have been manually performed. The libtabe frequency list was used for deriving the most frequently used words. Information about the individual characters has been extracted from the UNIHAN database.
